Views Of Paris:

Views Of Paris Although albumen plates never became universally popular, remarkable architectural photographs were made with them, such as the series of fine views of Paris taken on glass plates by Henri Plaut and Francois Auguste Renard in 1852 and printed by H. Fontenoy at his Paris "Imprimerie Photographique."

Because of her political views and her friendship with his arch enemy Mme. de Stael, Napoleon in 1811 ordered Mme. Recamier to live at some distance from Paris. She first joined her husband's family in Lyon, then traveled in Italy, and again visited Coppet. She returned to Paris in 1815, and during the early years of the Bourbon restoration her husband recouped his fortune. In 1819, when he had suffered another reversal, she retired to the Abbaye-aux-Bois, a convent in Paris, but continued to hold her salon and was the center of a brilliant group. Her influence over politics and literature was considerable. Among her closest friends were Benjamin Constant and Rene de Chateaubriand. She declined marriage with Chateaubriand in 1846. Blind and a victim of cholera she soon followed him to the grave.

The smaller the lot the more necessary it is, as a rule, to define its own margins. The extent to which they are emphasized depends upon a variety of circumstances as does the means of marking them. If you are fortunate enough to have good views of mountains, sea or pleasant country you certainly won't want to block these. By careful planting you can, perhaps, frame the views to enhance them and direct attention to them. In other places, it may be desirable to install solid backgrounds higher than eye level to block displeasing views or gain privacy.
