Stopped In Paris: In 1827 Niepce traveled to London to visit his brother, Claude, who was ill; he took with him the farmyard picture and other heliographs, as he named the process. On his way he stopped in Paris, where he visited the painter Louis Jacques Mande Daguerre, who was conducting research toward the same end: capturing the Camera image by "the spontaneous action of light."
Of the hundreds of people stopped by the teachers and parents manning the stall, only three were not prepared to talk and listen once they had satisfied themselves they were not being stopped by a religious or political organization! They were intrigued to find a school stall in the market place, and reacted with positive interest. Many suggested that this was a better place for teachers and parents to meet than on school territory, and that it was right for the local community to know what was happening inside the school.
The Selective Shopper on the Prowl Paris is a shopper's heaven, especially if the shopper is on the distaff side. It is an expensive heaven, in these days, notably excepting perfumes, which are far cheaper in Paris than in America, but the cost doesn't seem to frighten tourists away. Paris est toujours Paris. |
