Shoot A Portrait Of Each: If you don't specialize in children, but shoot all ages, you should still keep 12 years as the top limit for shooting children at the baby-picture rate and with baby-picture technique. Teen-agers should be photographed as adults, with regular portrait methods and at the regular portrait rate of pay for the photographer. On the other hand, there are amateurs who shoot wedding pictures for nothing, or for a few dollars to cover the cost of film, paper, and flashbulbs.
Faculty members as well as students should appear before your camera. Shoot the faculty as a group, and then shoot a portrait of each teacher. This will be a critical phase in your campaign to get yourself recognized as the official school photographer. It may take a fine bit of diplomacy to get over this hurdle, so don't bring up the project before you have made yourself rather favorably known to the big brass of the school.
Standard portrait equipment, provided you have room enough in the studio and sufficient Lighting facilities to cover i-full-figure poses, will do the job required for theatrical portraiture. Standard portrait procedvires, however, will not.
Shooting a good portrait of the entertainer is just one-fourth of the job. Beyond that you must shoot a bathing suit shot which is a good example of pinup technique, the casual pseudo-candid which should pass muster as a fashion shot, and finally the most difficult of all, the picture which ideally captures a talent on film. |
