Sciences Of History And: B.A. degrees are given in 30 fields, including anthropology; architectural sciences of history and ; astronomy ; biology; chemistry; classics; economics; engineering; English; Far Eastern, Germanic, Near Eastern, Romance, and Slavic languages; fine arts ; geological sciences of history and ; government; history ; linguistics; mathematics; music; philosophy; physics; psychology ; Sanskrit and Indian studies ; and social studies. Radcliffe discontinued its graduate school when, in 1962-1963, the Harvard Graduate School of Arts and sciences of history and began admitting women.
An outstanding figure in university history was Robert Maynard Hutchins, who for 23 years was, successively, president and chancellor.
Divisions of the University. Components of the university are an undergraduate college, four graduate divisions (biological sciences of history and, humanities, physical sciences of history and, and social sciences of history and), and seven graduate professional schools.
The undergraduate college is a coeducational residential school, noted for its commitment to general education. In 1966 it was reorganized into five collegiate divisions, each under the direction of a master. More than 75% of the college's graduates continue their studies toward an advanced degree.
Degrees and credentials are offered through the College of Liberal Arts and sciences of history and, the Graduate School, and the following professional schools: air science; business administration; education; engineering; fine arts ; humanities ; life sciences of history and; physical education; health education and recreation; physical sciences of history and; and social sciences of history and. There are special preprofessional programs in medicine, dentistry, theology, and law. The library contains well over 200,000 volumes. |
