Replete With History:

Replete With History Paris, virtually unscarred by either world war, remains, beyond argument, the most brilliant visitor-city in the world. No other can quite match it for popularity. London is bigger and stronger, despite its war lacerations. Rome is more replete with history, and certainly with famous churches. Stockholm, Lisbon, Naples, Istanbul far surpass it in beauty of setting. But the city on the Seine is the great lodestar of travelers and has been so since tourist travel began, some six centuries ago.

Symbolism.—Revelation is replete with symbolism ; mythical creatures and animals ; numbers ; astralism. Some suggest that the author wrote in cryptic language so that the Roman authorities would not be aware of what he was predicting. It would seem, however, that he wrote in such a way as to be readily understood, and that his readers were well acquainted with apocalyptic ideas, concepts, symbols, and imagery which he used, not to conceal his message, but to make it more colorful and appealing.
