Pinup Picture: Then, there are other pinup pictures which are highly salable but which are not pictures of girls at all. They are, believe it or not, pictures of young men. Your pinup boys are the body-builders, or muscle men, who have devoted themselves to exercising with barbells and dumbbells in an effort to emulate Mr. America and to see how much muscular bulk they can pack on their frames.
There are more devotees of body-building than perhaps you realize.
Perhaps the best way to market your pinup pictures is through one of the picture agencies (see the listing in Where and How to Sell Yow Pictures, bibliography page 299). The agencies all like to handle girl pictures and they keep abreast of the fluctuating market.
Don't spare yourself any effort to make masterpieces of your samples, because they will be your key to future earn-' ings. Here a word of caution is in order: When the entertain For any normal male, there could hardly be a more pleasant way of earning money than by shooting pinup pictures of beautiful models. Consider, for a moment, how the pinup photographer spends his day. He works only in the best of weather, and he travels with a charming and beautiful feminine companion to some natural beauty spot, where he takes pictures of his beautiful companion displaying her charms. He has few technical problems in shooting such pictures and there is a wide market eagerly waiting the chance to buy his pictures. How can you beat that? |
