Motion Picture Film: motion picture film pictures likewise vary greatly in quality from excellent dramas, historical pageants, and clever cartoons to confusing and distorted portrayals of life. Ratings of films suitable for children are available in the Children's Film Library organized by the motion picture film Picture Association of America. Various community agencies and Parent-Teacher Associations also supply selected lists of movies.
Speedlights flash, the picture is taken, the film automatically advances, the shutter is cocked, and all is in readiness for the next child in the line. Similar cameras are available which operate with 35mm film. The smaller film cuts costs a bit but naturally the contact prints are not so appealing as those from the larger film.
Le Prince produced the first series of images on perforated film and Edison, having developed the phonograph, began developing a motion picture film-picture recording and reproducing device to accompany recorded sound (1887).
Pathe introduced the Berliner gramophone, using discs in synchronisation with film, but lack of amplification made the performances ineffective (1896). Edison tried to improve this with banks of phonographs (1899). |
