Lis Face And Tears: For years the seeds have been utilized in the manufacture of jewelry, especially rosaries, and in Italy are known as Lachryma Christi or often St. Mary's-tears. In Assam they are crow's-jewel while the Arabs term them David's-tears. The women of certain Burmese tribes use these seeds in combination with silver, beetles' wings, and squirrels' tails to embroider fanciful designs on cloth. Plants are often found growing wild in the southern United States. Job's tears will tolerate some shade and prefers a damp spot in the garden. In colder climates start the seeds indoors. Old gardening books list a variegated form called C. Lacryma-Jobi var. zebrina, but I've yet to find a source.
