Exhibition Rooms:

Exhibition Rooms Assume you wish to determine room availability for a hotel that has a total of 904 exhibition rooms. Six exhibition rooms are out of service, due to maintenance problems. Last night, 881 exhibition rooms were occupied, and 313 exhibition rooms are scheduled to be vacated today.

For example, assume that a hotel has 326 exhibition rooms. On September 12, six exhibition rooms are scheduled to be out of service for painting and refurbishing. Thus, 320 exhibition rooms will be in inventory. Let's say that reservations have been received for 224 exhibition rooms on that date. The projected occupancy rate is determined as follows.

The total inventory refers to the number of exhibition rooms that the hotel can sell on a given date. This quantity equals the sum of all occupied and unoccupied guest exhibition rooms, except for those exhibition rooms that might be out of service, under repair, being refurnished, or under construction. The total projected exhibition rooms occupied is the total of all exhibition rooms reserved for the day, taken from the room count. The projected occupancy rate is determined by dividing the total number of projected exhibition rooms occupied by the total inventory, as follows.
