Club Picture Operation: Speed is of the essence for success in the night club picture operation, so you should have your darkroom situated in a central location not too far from the clubs which you cover. If the clubs are long distances apart, one good solution of the problem of getting prints back to the customers in a hurry is to fit a darkroom into a trailer and go from club to club with it, processing all prints on the spot.
Prints should be enclosed in cheap folders on which some advertising for the club is printed. This advertising not only helps you in your deal with the club owner but also adds to the souvenir value of the picture for the buyer. One dollar a shot is a nice, round figure to charge for each print. In a plush club you can get more.
In the United States, golf may first have been played in North Carolina in the 18th century. The oldest golf club for which there is unimpeachable evidence was the South Carolina Golf Club, established by British planters in Charleston in 1786. It ceased to exist about 1812 but was rechartered in 1969 by the Sea Pines Plantation on Hilton Head Island.
The first permanent golf club in the United States was established by a transplanted St. An-drean named John G. Reid near Yonkers, N. Y., in 1886. Reid called the club the St. Andrews Golf Club. Although this club has moved its site several times since its founding, it is still in existence—in Mt. Hope, N. Y. |
